Communications Center

The Lima Police Department Communications Center is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by ten (10) full-time employees. Two dispatchers are on duty between 11 am and 3 am with staggered coverage over 3am to 11 am. Dispatchers handle all Police, Fire, and EMS radio traffic, as well as incoming telephone lines, both emergency (9-1-1) and non-emergency calls. Calls are recorded and dispatched via Computer-Aided Dispatch, or CAD, that simplifies data entry and dispatches calls more quickly with more information.
