The ALL-West Street and Elizabeth Street Project, PID 90948, West Street and Elizabeth Street Streetscape Improvement Project, has been postponed from its original start date of July, 2013. The City received a single bid which was 38% above Engineer’s estimate. Therefore, the project has been postponed from its originally slated construction date. The project will be re-bid during late fall of 2013, and construction will commence in April, 2014. It is anticipated that the City will receive more favorable bids with this extended construction window.
The West Street and Elizabeth Street Streetscape Improvements Project includes removal and replacement of portions of curbs, drainage improvements, resurfacing, signal and lighting improvements, dedicated bike lanes, pedestrian improvements, and landscaping. The overall project is aimed at converting sections of West Street and Elizabeth Street from Elm Street to North Street to meet “complete street” design criteria which will accommodate vehicular traffic, cyclists, and pedestrians within the improvement limits. Contractors currently working within the contractor’s limits of this project (subcontractors for the City of Lima and Dominion East Ohio Gas) will make repairs to the excavation areas of street and sidewalk surfaces that they have disturbed.
