LIMA PRIDE HOMES RECOGNIZED

AWARDS GIVEN FOR EXEMPLARY PROPERTY MAINTENANCE

Four times each year Lima property owners may be recognized for
maintaining their homes as models for their community. In 1996, the
first Lima Home Pride Awards were presented by Lima Property Maintenance
Code Inspectors to illustrate the positive impact of well maintained
properties within the community. The awards program was developed by
City employees involved in the 1995 Neighborhood Support Strategic
Planning process to recognize persons who take pride in their homes and
commercial properties and maintain them in a way that provides a
positive example for the rest of the community. This employee initiated
program allows each of the City's Property Maintenance Code Inspectors
to select properties within their sector which exemplify quality
property maintenance.
Selected properties must meet current Lima Property Maintenance Code
standards, the property owner may have no property maintenance
violations on any properties they own, and the selected property must
exemplify pride in ownership and provide a model of maintenance for the
neighborhood. Selections are the prerogative of the Property Maintenance
Code Inspector responsible for the neighborhood sector. Each Inspector
may nominate one home each quarter from which the property to be
recognized is chosen by consensus of the Inspectors. Neighborhood
Support Manager Amy Sackman Odum notes "There are beautiful homes and
buildings all through the community that are never recognized for what
they contribute to the quality of life in Lima. The Lima Pride Homes
Awards demonstrate that with care and creativity , a property owner can
play a valuable part in improving our neighborhoods."
Award winners are presented with a Lima Pride Home Plaque with a
photograph of their home, and a Lima Pride Home Award winner yard sign
to be displayed at their property until the next winner is selected.
