HOUSING ASSISTANCE
As a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) entitlement community,
and a HOME participating jurisdiction, Lima receives nearly $2 million
annually through its Consolidated Plan. A portion of these federal
resources assist homeowners through housing rehabilitation loans,
emergency repairs, and a 1st time homebuyers program. Additional
assistance is available through the Neighbor 2 Neighbor volunteer
program.
Community reinvestment areas offer real estate tax abatements to
persons who renovate existing, or construct new, housing units within
the City limits.
The City's fair housing programs ensure all citizens have equal
access to housing, assist persons who may be the subject of
discriminatory housing practices , and inform the community about the
risks of lead based paint .
Tenants and landlords have responsibilities and obligations to one
another under Ohio's Landlord Tenant Law.
