The Utility Field Services division of the Department of Utilities consists of approximately 32 employees. These people are responsible for maintaining over 400 miles of water mainline and over 200 miles of sewer mainline. There are almost 8,000 valves and 1200 fire hydrants that we maintain. We also maintain over 24,000 water services 24,000 water meters and 15,000 sewer connections.
Fleet & Mechanics
In our fleet we have 5 backhoes, 6 dump trucks, 8 crew trucks, 4 sewer cleaning trucks, 3 sewer camera trucks and other vehicles and equipment to supplement out operations.
Our division has between 50% and 75% EPA certified operators. The division's mechanic provides maintenance for vehicles and equipment for most of the Utility Department. We have an engineering department that is responsible for inspections, marking digging locations for OUPS and keeping the records necessary to run the division. We also support the Customer Service division by providing representatives during business hours and after hours service calls and emergencies.
